As the leaves begin to turn and a new season settles in, the Union Power Charitable Foundation (UPCF) is celebrating another season of giving. This quarter’s grant recipients are doing the kind of work that creates lasting change, each in their own unique way. From addressing everyday challenges to creating new opportunities, these organizations are making a difference across Union Power's service territory. Meet the Foundation’s Q3 grant winners and discover the stories behind the work we’re proud to support.
Council on Aging in Union County
For older adults, maintaining independence often comes down to having access to the essentials. The Council on Aging in Union County is working to make those essentials more accessible for seniors across the county, using this UPCF grant to provide necessary supplies to adults aged 60 and older. The effort reflects the organization’s broader mission to help older adults live with independence, dignity, and a greater quality of life. By easing the financial burden of these everyday necessities, the Council on Aging is helping seniors remain safe in their homes while providing peace of mind for the people who care for them.
Go Jen Go

A breast cancer diagnosis can bring financial uncertainty at a time when families are already navigating the demands of treatment. Through this grant, the Go Jen Go Foundation will provide direct financial assistance to local breast cancer patients and their families, helping cover essential living expenses when reduced work hours can create a financial gap. This support can help families stay current on necessities such as housing, utilities, and food while allowing patients to focus on treatment and recovery. The funding directly advances Go Jen Go’s mission to support the emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of those affected by breast cancer, providing stability when it is needed most.
Assist ME

When someone needs a wheelchair, hospital bed, or other mobility equipment, the right device can mean the difference between navigating daily life independently and facing significant barriers. Assist ME’s Mobility, Opportunity & Vital Equipment (MOVE) Program provides medically necessary mobility equipment at no cost to children and adults who have limited financial resources and little to no insurance. Through the UPCF grant, Assist ME will purchase 48 high-need mobility items to help stock its new Union County distribution site. The new location will expand access to essential equipment for residents across Union County, strengthening Assist ME’s mission to help people move forward with greater independence and opportunity.
While each grant supports a different need, they share a common purpose of helping people move forward when they need it most. Together, these organizations are turning support into opportunity, stability, and hope. For UPCF, that is the heart of giving with purpose and creating an impact that reaches far beyond the grant itself.
